RED SEA (Feb. 8, 2015) - Maj. Gen. Carl E. Mundy, commander, Task Force 51 addresses Sailors and Marines aboard USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) during an all hands call. CTF 51 has command and control of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group and 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Iwo Jima ARG/MEU), which includes the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), the flagship; amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21); amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43); and the embarked 24th MEU. Together, the Iwo Jima ARG and 24th MEU provide a versatile, sea-based expeditionary force that can be tailored to a variety of missions in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
