Petty Officer 3rd Class Billy Markham, aviation machinist's mate, applies erosion film on the propeller blade of an E-2C Hawkeye, assigned to the "Black Eagles" of Airborne Early Warning Squadron 113, on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. While at sea, aircraft are exposed to harsh weather conditions and sea water which could easily corrode the aircraft. To fight this, preventative maintenance is performed to keep aircraft at optimal performance. Ronald Reagan is underway on a routine deployment to the Western Pacific.
