A group of F/A-18 Hornets and Super Hornets assigned to the strike fighter squadrons of Carrier Air Wing 14 fly the missing man formation above the guided-missile frigate USS Thach. Thach held a wreath laying ceremony in remembrance of the Battle of Midway and a burial at sea ceremony for retired Cmdr. Dale "Abe" Simmons, a former wingman of the ship's namesake, Adm. Jimmy Thach. USS Thach is currently on a routine deployment to the Western Pacific.
