    Seaman Apprentice Austin Rucker of Fort Myers, Fla., was advanced to the rank of seaman Feb. 17, 2015. He currently works as a member of the deck force aboard the Coast Guard Cutter SPAR home-ported in Kodiak, Alaska. Rucker helps the unit maintain over 150 navigational aids in 2 million square miles of operational area including the Aleutian Chain, the Bering Sea and the Arctic. Lt. Cmdr. Doug Jannusch, CGC SPAR commanding officer, presented the advancement at quarters aboard the cutter. Rucker is a 2014 graduate of Fort Myers Senior High School and plans to join the aviation community after completing Aviation Maintenance Technician school. (U.S. Coast Guard photo by Lt. j.g.
