150221-N-ZZ999-935 SAND ISLAND, Hawaii (Feb. 21, 2015) - A participant of the 2015 Hawaii Regional SeaPerch Underwater Robotics for Youth competition navigates an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) through obstacles at U.S. Coast Guard Base Honolulu. Managed by The AUVSI (Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International) Foundation, the SeaPerch Program is an innovative underwater robotics program that provides students with the opportunity to learn about robotics, engineering, science and mathematics (STEM) while building an underwater ROV as part of a science and engineering technology curriculum. SeaPerch helps expose students to the various careers that are possible in naval architecture, and naval, ocean and marine engineering. (U.S. Navy photo by Navy Diver 2nd Class Joe Finemore/Released)
