Lance Cpl. Cannon Herring explains the details of the M249 squad automatic weapon to future Marines, also known as poolees, during a tour of the USS Arlington (LPD-24) amphibious dock transport ship, March 14, in South Boston, Mass. Herring is a motor transportation operator with Truck Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division. More than 100 Marines with II Marine Expeditionary Force and U.S. Marine Forces Command sailed to South Boston to march in the city's St. Patrick's Day parade.
