The 26.2-mile event honors the tens of thousands of Soldiers, Sailors and Marines, both American and Filipino, who were taken prisoner April 9, 1942, by Japanese forces in World War II and force-marched to POW camps resulting in an estimated 7,000 to 10,000 deaths.
