In Latvia, the sandbags used for military obstacles are larger than the ones in the U.S., but easier to fill with partners. U.S. Marine Cpl. Demond Warren, Black Sea Rotational Force, and a combat engineer with the Canadian Armed Forces assisted in 65 other NATO Allies in filling 300 sandbags in 45 minutes for Exercise Summer Shield at Adazi Military Base, Latvia, March 24, 2015. Exercise Summer Shield is a multilateral, joint command and control live-fire and maneuver event designed to maintain enduring partnerships and improve our collective defense.
