Tech. Sgt. Michael Harris, a maintainer with the 113th Wing’s Aerospace Control Alert (ACA) Detachment, cooks dinner in one of the two kitchens in the self-sustainable ACA facility on March 14, 2015, after an already long first half of his 24-hour shift at the alert station. The D.C. Air National Guard’s F-16s and ready trained personnel are part of a multi-layered air defense system for the nation’s capital. The D.C. ACA Detachment reached a milestone of responding to 5,000 alert events on March 21, 2015. (Air National Guard photo by Master Sgt. Becky Vanshur)
