Pvt. George Phillips, 18, a light wheeled vehicle mechanic from Monroe, La., is one of the 588th's youngest Soldiers who deployed within a month from completing initial military training. While installing a new transmission on a vehicle, George said he is taking advantage of the installation gym to train in weight lifting. He plans to bench press 330 pounds by the time he finishes the deployment.
