Mark Coussens, a volunteer dentist from the Pre-dental Society at the University of California, San Diego, and Canadian army Cpl. Katarina Vasic, a dental technician, provide dental treatment to a local man during a Pacific Partnership 2009 medical civic action project at Niu'ui Hospital. This year Pacific Partnership will travel to Oceania, including Kiribati, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tonga. The Military Sealift Command dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd serves as the enabling platform for Pacific Partnership.
