U.S. Navy Captain commends PHL, U.S. dedication to construction projects

U.S. Navy Capt. James G. Meyer, commodore of the 30th Naval Construction Regiment and Combined-Joint Civil-Military Operations Task Force commander for Balikatan 2015, speaks with Armed Forces of the Philippines Army Capt. Larry Camacam, assigned to the 552nd Engineer Construction Battalion, during a tour of the ongoing construction at Don Joaquin Artuz Memorial Elementary School in Tapaz, Philippines, during Balikatan 2015, April 16. The engineers from the 552nd, along with U.S. Navy Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5 and U.S. Marines from the 9th Engineer Support Battalion, are constructing two classrooms at the school. Balikatan, which means “shoulder to shoulder” in Filipino, is an annual bilateral training exercise aimed at improving the ability of Philippine and U.S. military forces to work together during planning, contingency, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.
