Armed Forces of the Philippines Army Lt. Col. Ariel Reyes, commanding officer of the 12th Infantry Battalion, shares a story with U.S. Marine Capt. Paul Brashier, a III Marine Expeditionary Force civil affairs Marine, during a civil-military operations seminar at Camp Jizmundo, Philippines, during Balikatan 2015, April 20. The seminar was held to share experiences in civil-military operations, ideas and best practices, and was part of the Combined-Joint Civil-Military Operations Task Force’s activities on the island of Panay. Balikatan, which means “shoulder to shoulder” in Filipino, is an annual bilateral training exercise aimed at improving the ability of Philippine and U.S. military forces to work together during planning, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.
