Philippine soldiers assigned to the 18th Special Forces group and U.S. soldiers assigned to the 1st Special Forces group receive instruction on performing helocast operations during exercise Balikatan, April 23, at Fort Magsaysay, Philippines, during Balikatan 2015. Helocasting is an airborne technique used by special operations forces to insert into a military area of operations. Bilateral training exercises such as Balikatan improve the readiness of both armed forces, help maintain a high level of readiness, and enhance military-to-military relations.
