A pallet of equipment drops from the ramp of a C-130 Hercules from the 36th Airlift Squadron, Yokota Air Base, Japan, April 27, as part of exercise Balikatan 2015. The C-130 was escorted by two A-10 Thunderbolt IIs into simulated hostile airspace as part of the training sortie. Training opportunities such as the ones provided at Balikatan are seen as essential to effective humanitarian assistance and disaster relief provided by both military forces and this combined tactical-level training hones technical competencies, and fosters teamwork between the two allied forces.
