U.S. Marine Brig. Gen. Paul J. Kennedy, of Bloomfield, Conn., looks out at the country of Nepal on a UH-1Y Huey, May 4. The flight was part of a reconnaissance mission to survey the outlying areas of Nepal affected by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake, April 25. Marines with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 469, Marine Air Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force provided the UH-1Y Huey to support the Nepal government. The Nepalese Government requested the U.S. Government’s help after the earthquake. United States Agency for International Development is also supporting the Nepalese Government. USAID is a U.S. Government agency that gives civilian foreign aid in time of natural disasters.
