22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit

Sgt. Misty Smalygo, a native of Broken Arrow, Okla., assists children during group activities at the Regional Institute for Active Learning School in Adliya, Bahrain, July 27. Sailors from the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan and Marines from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit volunteered at the school as part of a community relations project. The Bataan Amphibious Ready Group is supporting maritime security operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. The 22nd MEU is serving as the theater reserve force for U.S. Central Command.
