A UH-1Y Huey takes off carrying supplies from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, May 7. Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 469 Hueys will assist the Nepalese government to transport food, water, and shelter supplies to the Nepalese people in the rural areas of Nepal. The Nepalese government requested assistance from U.S. Agency for International Development after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck their country, April 25. In response, the U.S. military sent Marines, Airmen, Soldiers and Sailors as part of Joint Task Force 505 at the direction of USAID. The U.S. military responded, bringing their aircraft to support the Nepalese government. JTF 505 is actively distributing relief aid supplies in conjunction with the Nepalese government. They will continue to support Nepal as needed. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Mandaline Hatch/Released)
