U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (May 26, 2015) – Command Master Chief Greg Carlson, instructs 2008 American Idol winner David Cook on proper helm techniques during his visit aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60). Normandy is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations as part of Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the region.
