U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (May 28, 2015) – Operations Specialist 3rd Class Matthew Conte, from Westchester, Penn., connects a sea painter to a rigid-hull inflatable boat (RIB) during small boat operations aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60). Normandy is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations as part of Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the region.
