Capt. David Yu, the commander of Company B, 2nd Battalion 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), is looking through a device that reads types of casualties while training while his Soldiers are dressed advanced equipment to make training as realistic as possible, Aug. 5. The platoon is wearing combat training gear called Digital Infrared Timing Simulator, better known as DITS. This newest form of non-lethal, force-on-force training equipment uses lasers and blank cartridges to simulate actual battle. DITS puts authentic-like casualty into play while training.
