PORTSMOUTH, Va. (May 8, 2015) - Capt. Stephen T. Koehler, commanding officer of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike), paints the ship's starboard anchor with gold paint to indicate that the command has earned the Navy Retention Award. Although Ike earned her gold anchors in February, command leadership painted the anchors only recently to highlight continued outstanding retention as the ship prepares for the imminent conclusion of a nearly two-year docking planned incremental availability (DPIA) at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
