Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Training Squadron arrives at Pearl Harbor for scheduled port visit

150602-N-IU636-402 PEARL HARBOR (June 2, 2015) Capt. Adolfo H. Ibarra, commanding officer of the guided-missile cruiser USS Port Royal (CG 73), (right), presents Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Capt. Teruo Ozawa, commanding officer of JS Kashima (TV 3508), with a plaque and USS Port Royal ball cap while aboard Kashima at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Kashima is joined by JS Yamagiri (DD 152) and JS Shimayuki (TV 3513) for a scheduled port visit. While in Hawaii, JMSDF sailors will participate in wreath-laying ceremonies at the USS Arizona Memorial, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) and Makiki Cemetery. The JMSDF has been making similar port visits to Pearl Harbor for more than 50 years and, through presentations and official meetings, have reinforced a commitment to peace and security in Northeast Asia as part of the U.S.-Japan alliance.
