U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha (left), chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee of Defense, speaks with Sailors during a visit to the Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, N.C., Aug. 12. During his visit, Murtha inquired about Marines' logistics, healthcare and training and funding of Navy and Marine Corps healthcare system. He also took specific interest in the construction of the new Wounded Warrior Battalion barracks and plans for a Fisher House project, both nearby the hospital. Murtha served a 37-year career in the Marine Corps, retiring from the reserves as a colonel in 1990 and has served the people of the 12th Congressional District in western Pennsylvania since 1974.
