Soldiers of the 227th Brigade Engineer Battalion apply their skills to stabilize collapsed structures during Vigilant Guard/Makani Pahili 2015 disaster preparedness exercise June 2, at Kalaeloa, Hawaii. A type three slope shore brace, utilized here, is commonly used to stabilize one-sided collapsed structures providing safe search and rescue efforts in catastrophic events. VGMP15 is a United States Northern Command and National Guard Bureau sponsored exercise program that provides the State of Hawaii and the Hawaii National Guard an opportunity to improve collaborative efforts during domestic emergencies and catastrophic events.
