Antoine and Alice Fernandez, dressed in vintage World War II U.S. Army uniforms, attend a WWII commemoration ceremony in Sainte Laurent sur Mer, France, June 6, 2015. A formation of U.S. Army Soldiers from the 29th Infantry and 1st Infantry Divisions, the 173rd Airborne Brigade, and the 3rd Ranger Battalion paid honors to the sacrifices of the service members who fought through D-Day and helped liberate France from Nazi occupation. More than 380 U.S. service members from Europe and affiliated D-Day historical units are participating in the 71st Anniversary as part of Joint Task Force D-Day 71. The task force, based in Sainte Mere Eglise, France, is supporting local events across Normandy, from June 2-8, 2015, to commemorate the selfless actions by all the Allies on D-Day that continue to resonate 71 years later.
