The Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Georgia passes Mount Vesuvius after a port visit to Naples, Italy. Vesuvius is the only active volcano in mainland Europe. Georgia, home ported at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Ga., is on her maiden operational deployment since converting from a ballistic-missile submarine to a guided-missile submarine. The boat returned to service, March 28, 2008.
