Graduates of class 44 of the North Carolina Tar heel Challenge Academy switch their tassels over signifying they have graduated at the Sampson County Agri-Exposition Center, June 12, 2015. The Tar Heel Challenge Academy has existed for 21 years and is sponsored by the North Carolina National Guard. Its unique quasi-military structure instills at risk teens with life skills while focusing on academics, physical training, self-discipline, teamwork, leadership, team building, work ethics, service to community, respect for others, self-esteem, loyalty and integrity.
