150618-N-NT265-009 YOKOSUKA, Japan (June 18, 2015) – The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) prepares to moor while arriving at Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY). Chancellorsville recently completed a combat systems update and is fitted with the latest Aegis Baseline 9 combat system including state-of-the-art air, surface, and undersea warfare systems needed to directly support the carrier strike group. Chancellorsville is the first U.S. Navy ship to forward deploy with that capability and its placement within the strike group will help ensure the U.S. is best positioned to honor its security commitment to Japan.
