The Fort Wainwright Fire Department was joined by the Steese Volunteer FD and the Chena Goldstream VFD, both part of the Fairbanks North Star Borough Fire Department system, on June 6, 2015, to conduct medical evacuation hoist training with C Company, 1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment (Air Ambulance). The training was to familiarize the various first responder crews on what is required by them prior to aircraft arrival and keeping the patient safe during the transfer of care to the medevac team while performing hoist operations to the aircraft. Sgt. Katie D. Bauman was on the ground to ensure proper procedures were followed for everyone’s safety during the training and for future missions.
