Lt. Gen. Charles H. Jacoby Jr., Multi-National Corps-Iraq commander, pins the Purple Heart Medal on Spc. James R. Simpson, an M-1 armor crewman from El Paso, Texas, assigned to C Company, 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 1st Armored Division. Simpson sustained wounds when his vehicle was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade in Al Amarah, Iraq, June 10. The U.S. battalion is deployed from Fort Bliss, Texas, to advise and assist Iraqi security forces in Maysan province.
