1st Lt. Aaron Sulak, platoon leader for 3rd Platoon, Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion, 377th Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Fires Brigade, from Boyce City, Mich., scans his coverage area as the convoy stops at a checkpoint to coordinate with Iraqi security forces. Sulak said the nightly patrols can often be filled with long periods of inactivity, but boredom never sets in. "There's always something to do," he said. "We're always alert and watching. We have to be; it's our job."
