Khan was a distinguished guest at the Pentagon celebration during Ramadan. Her son, who was 20 years old, was killed in an improvised explosive device blast in Iraq, Aug. 6, 2007. "The children loved him," Khan said. He loved the United States and wanted to help others, she said. "That's why he went into the Army, to show that he's a Muslim and he will fight for his country."
