GULF OF ADEN (July 7, 2015) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Fuel) 3rd Class Job Cruz uses a refractometer to perform a fuel system icing inhibitor (FSII) test on JP-5 aviation fuel in the fuels lab aboard amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex is the flagship for the Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) , and with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
