NEWPORT, R.I. (April 8, 2015) – A lone gunman roams the hallways of Naval Supply Corps School during an active-shooter drill looking for an unlocked classroom. His aim was to harm people. Drills such as these help prepare commands to react to incidents involving hostiles aimed at harming personnel. The schoolhouse immediately executed the shelter-in-place plan locking every used classroom door, turning off the lights and hiding beneath desks. Naval base security officers apprehended the gunman and immediately began searching the schoolhouse for potential other hostiles while simultaneously evacuating students to safety ensuring each was identified and checked for injuries.
