150430-N-UL721-022 CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (April 30, 2015) A U.S. Navy MH-60 Nighthawk helicopter assigned to the “Merlins” of Sea Combat Squadron 3 participates in water bucket operations during a wild land firefighting exercise involving units from U.S. 3rd Fleet, Navy Region Southwest, Camp Pendleton, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Cal Fire and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department. This exercise, the eighth iteration of its kind, provides ready, trained and certified military and civilian resources to combat wild land fires in the region. Joint, interagency and international relationships strengthen U.S. 3rd Fleet’s ability to respond to crises and protect the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners.
