Key leaders from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (left) and U.S. Army Japan (USARJ) meet at Japan's Ministry of Defense July 10, 2015, in Tokyo. Hosted by the Japan Self-Defense Force, the meeting marked the first formal visit between Adm. Katsutosi Kawano, chief of staff, Japan Self-Defense Force, and Army Maj. Gen. James F. Pasquarette, commanding general, U.S. Army Japan. The two generals discussed their respective command's previous achievements, current operations and possible challenges while presenting opportunities to enhance the close partnership between the two countries.
