A toy soldier placed by Alison Malachowski, the mother of U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. James Michael Malachowski, sits atop his headstone in Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery, July 22, 2015. Malachowski - by all accounts a superior Marine who was on the fast track to being a gunnery sergeant and more - was killed in Afghanistan during his fourth combat deployment by an improvised explosive device near Patrol Base Dakota in Marjah Province, March 20, 2011.
