This photo illustration was created to accompany a Robins Rev-Up article highlighting the Air Force’s Safe Haven provision under AFI 44-107, which states that disciplinary action for illicit drug use will not be initiated for any employee who meets all four of the following conditions: Voluntarily identifies himself/herself as a user of illicit drugs prior to being notified of the requirement to provide a specimen for testing or being identified through other means – drug testing, investigation; obtains and cooperates with appropriate counseling or rehabilitation; agrees to, signs a last chance or statement of agreement (Firm Choice); and thereafter refrains from illicit drug use. Although prescription drugs were used for the illustration, all substance abuse problems are serious, and help is available. (U.S. Air Force photo illustration by Tommie Horton)
