Cpl. Brandon M. Stair, a 25-year-old from Utica, Ohio, pulls out a notebook while speaking to Iraqi men in their home in Zaidon, Iraq. Stair, assigned to B Company, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 5, is performing roles and missions not normally associated with traditional reconnaissance. Instead of staying hidden and gathering intelligence, Recon Marines are walking the beat, questioning and coordinating information and prosecuting their own missions against insurgents.
