General Raymond T. Odierno, 38th Chief of Staff of the Army, retires in a ceremony supported by the Soldiers of the 3rd United States Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) on Summerall Field, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Aug. 14, 2015. During the ceremony General Mark A. Milley was sworn in as the 39th Chief of Staff of the Army. Giving remarks about Gen. Odiernos 39 years of service was Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, Secretary of the Army John McHugh,18th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin M. Dempsey, and Gen. Milley. Gen.
