U.S. Army South’s Operations Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion conducted a multi-purpose machine gun range Aug. 25 at Camp Bullis, Texas, in order to familiarize its Soldiers with the M249 light machine gun and its capabilities. Approximately 17 Soldiers participated in the familiarization fire, which was part of a three-phase operation that included a period of primary marksmanship instruction, a dry-run through the engagement skills trainer and finally the firing of the M249s at Camp Bullis.
