Benjamin Hewlett, commander of Carrier Air Wing One (CVW 1) and Chief Petty officer selects, cut a cake on the mess decks of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) during a ceremony for the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Vietnam War. The ceremony honored service members who served or lost their lives during the war. Theodore Roosevelt is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the region.
