MANAMA, Bahrain (Sept. 9, 2015) Chief of Naval Personnel Vice Adm. William F. Moran recites the oath of enlistment to Chief Electronics Technician Robert Shepard, Master-at-Arms 1st Class Carlyle Sanzone and Logistics Specialist 1st Class Martin Maina as the crew joins in during an all hands call on the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex is the flagship of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
