Today, at the Antietam Battlefield, there's a monument to the courage of William McKinley, a commissary sergeant, who later went on to become the 25th president of the United States. During the Civil War battle, McKinley served hot food and coffee to men under fire. (DeCA photo by Dr. Peter Skirbunt)
