CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq -- A tribute at the Division Chapel on Camp Liberty May 24 placed during a memorial ceremony for Lt. Col. Daniel Holland, 414th Civil Affairs Battalion, 352nd Civil Affairs Command, Multi-National Division -- Baghdad. Holland, 43, a doctor of veterinary medicine, along with three Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y. and a civilian interpreter, died May 18 when an improvised-explosive device detonated near their humvee in Baghdad. Holland's photo is placed near an M-4 rifle with bayonet, a pair of his boots and some of the medals he was awarded, including the Purple Heart. Among the items left by his fellow Soldiers, Marines, sailors and airmen are commemorative unit coins and patches, a rosary and a yarmulke.
