Paratroopers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade leave the Oosterbeek cemetery Sept. 17, during a commemorative road march to pay tribute to those who jumped here as part of Operation Market Garden 71 years ago. The commemoration brought together approximately 1,000 allied paratroopers from the U.S., Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and the U.K. for several days of combined airborne operations and ceremonies. Market Garden was the largest airborne operation in history, taking place from Sept. 17-25, 1944. The march led paratroopers a total of 17 kilometers from the Ginkel Memorial to the Frost Bridge, both key locations during the exercise. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt.
