A cemetery marker is displayed at the unveiling of Edgerly Cemetery aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort Sept. 18. The cemetery is home to many unmarked graves belonging to ancestors from the Edgerly Plantation. The lineage of the grave sites can be traced back to the 1880s with the head and foot stone of Stephen Binyard, a landowner on Edgerly Plantation who served in the Union Army after he was freed from slavery in 1863.
