Sgt. Michael Musick, an air traffic controller, monitors the flightline at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Sept. 21, 2015. Musick, of Mandeville, La., is among several Marines who transferred to the unit as personnel prepares it to become a Marine Corps-run facility. The unit is slated to have Marines running the air traffic control section, instead of the current mixed Navy and Marine Corps team, by 2018. The Marines and Sailors at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay ensure the safety of all personnel and visitors as it carries out daily flight operations. As part of Marine Corps Base Hawaii, the unit's mission is to provide facilities, programs and services in direct support of units, individuals and families in order to enhance and sustain combat readiness for all operating forces and tenant organizations aboard the installation.
