The 388th Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Company, a U.S. Army Reserve unit out of Junction City, Wis., takes a holistic approach to Battle Assembly Sept. 19-20, 2015. During the two-day training period, the 388th focused on sustainment training, Soldier promotions and enjoyed a family Day with unit members and their families. “Taking care of Soldiers includes not only training and professional development, but also, down time to connect with unit members and family engagement,” said 1st Sgt. Gary Boda, 388th CBRN Company first sergeant. “This leads to successful missions and successful Soldiers.”
The 388th makes taking care of Soldiers a priority. Ensuring they are trained and equipped is only part of the job. Boda said, “Soldiers can’t work if they aren’t trained. But being physically and mentally prepared for the mission is vital.” Battle Assemblies provide units with focused time to work on key tasks that support the mission while providing leaders the opportunity to check in with their Soldiers on a personal level.
“You can’t lead Soldiers if you don’t know them,” Boda said.
